Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approves central deputation waiver for Vidhi Kumar Birdi

NEW DELHI, May 31, 2026 :- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs to waive the mandatory cooling-off period for the central deputation of Indian Police Service officer Vidhi Kumar Birdi.

According to an official order designated as No. 6/14/2026-EO(SM-I) from the Department of Personnel and Training, the decision relaxes the standard Indian Police Service tenure policy for the 2003-batch officer from the AGMUT cadre.

The clearance follows an official communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs sent earlier this year in April. The formal approval, signed by Director Annies Kanmani Joy, has been forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs Secretary Govind Mohan, along with copies sent to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, and other relevant administrative departments for necessary action.
