Andaman and Nicobar Command Conducts Major Anti-Hijack Drill at Sri Vijaya Puram Airport; NSG and CISF Validate Strategic Readiness​

SRI VIJAYA PURAM, FEB 27, 2026 — In a robust display of maritime and aerial security synergy, the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) successfully executed a high-stakes Anti-Hijack Drill at the Sri Vijaya Puram Airport on February 26.

The comprehensive exercise, meticulously coordinated by INS Utkrosh, was designed to validate emergency contingency mechanisms and streamline rapid response protocols in the event of a theoretical aircraft hijack.

The drill saw seamless tactical integration between elite units, including the National Security Guard (NSG), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), alongside various State agencies. By rigorously testing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in strict alignment with Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) guidelines, the exercise effectively reinforced the operational readiness of India’s strategic island territories.
