Amritsar police bust international drug smuggling network and seize 14 kg of narcotics
AMRITSAR, May 20, 2026The Amritsar Commissionerate Police achieved a major breakthrough by busting an international drug smuggling module, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as ICE, and 4 kilograms of heroin.
The operation is part of an ongoing crackdown to disrupt large-scale narcotics networks operating across state and national borders.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the arrested individuals were in direct contact with a Dubai-based drug smuggler operating out of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Acting under his explicit instructions, the suspects were tasked with trafficking high-value narcotics into Punjab and Delhi. One of the accused had recently returned from Dubai, where he allegedly received specific training and instructions to transport large consignments of heroin and ICE for distribution across the Majha and Doaba regions.
A First Information Report under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been officially registered at the Chheharta Police Station in Amritsar.
Law enforcement authorities are conducting further investigations to establish all backward and forward linkages, identify remaining members of the syndicate, and uncover additional drug consignments linked to this network.
