JAMMU July 28 – A fresh batch of 3,029 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu early Tuesday for the Baltal base camp under multi-layered security arrangements.
According to the official the 21st batch of the annual pilgrimage left the base camp early morning in a convoy of 151 vehicles, heading towards the cave shrine located in the south Kashmir Himalayas.
The departing convoy comprised 57 buses, 30 medium motor vehicles, 58 light motor vehicles, and 6 two-wheelers. Among the total 3,029 yatris enrolled in this batch, the detailed break-up includes 2,310 male pilgrims, 590 female pilgrims, 14 children, 45 sadhus, 40 sadhvis, and 30 foreign male pilgrims.
Authorities confirmed that no convoy was dispatched for the Pahalgam route during this departure.The convoy is moving along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway under a strict security cover, proceeding towards the base camp subject to weather and traffic conditions.
