Samajwadi Party MLA Azam Khan Released After Almost Two Years in Sitapur Jail

Sitapur (UP) 23 September :- Samajwadi Party leader and former Lok Sabha MP Azam Khan was released from Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur jail on Tuesday, after an imprisonment of almost 23 months. He was jailed in connection with the Quality Bar land encroachment case. Senior SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav greeted Khan on his release, using the opportunity to stage a stinging attack against the state government of Yogi Adityanath.

Speaking to the media, Yadav welcomed the judiciary to release his colleague on bail, stating that his colleague was a victim of a political conspiracy. He asserted that Azam Khan had been “framed” by the government in a series of fake cases. Yadav, who is a six-term MLA from Jaswantnagar, said, “The court has given him relief, and I am welcoming this verdict by the Supreme Court and the High Court. The Samajwadi Party stands solid with him.” Also, Yadav strongly refuted rumors that Khan will change sides to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), calling such rumors “all lies.”
