Jammu, Sep 23: A suspenseful, hours-long operation was being conducted in the forests of Rajouri on Tuesday that ended in the successful capture of a gigantic python. The snake measuring an incredible 4.5 meters in length and weighing between 50-55 kg was captured by a combined team of police and wildlife personnel.
The operation was prompted by a complaint from villagers in Manpur, Nowshera tehsil. Wildlife officer Rajesh Kumar disclosed a horrific detail: the python had consumed and killed a jackal just days before, although it vomited the animal later.
The giant reptile was finally immobilized by the team. Officials confirmed that the python will be relocated and released safely in a forest region.
