Jammu Region Swells with Patriotic Pride as Har Ghar Tiranga and Vande Mataram Centenary Celebrations Begin
JAMMU, AUGUST 09, 2026 — A wave of deep national pride swept across the Jammu region on Sunday as local administrations, students, and community members came together to mark the simultaneous rollout of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026 and Phase-III of the 150th centenary celebrations for the national song, Vande Mataram. Set to run through August 17, 2026, the week-long initiative aims to deepen civic engagement, honor historical freedom struggles, and encourage every household to fly the Indian Tricolour. From mountain districts to urban transport hubs, streets echoed with patriotic slogans and the mass singing of Vande Mataram, signaling an energetic start to this year’s Independence Day prelude.
In Doda district, official activities commenced at the DC Office Complex, where participants gathered for an opening ceremony featuring the recitation of the national song and national anthem. Highlighting the historical importance of the Tricolour, local leadership urged residents to take active part in honoring the national flag throughout the week. Following the ceremony, a major Tiranga Rally marched from the complex toward Government Higher Secondary School for Boys. Concurrently, Bhaderwah witnessed a high-volume processional route from Dak Bunglow through Old Bus Stand to Seri Bazar, led by National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, school students, and civil society groups waving flags and chanting slogans.
The coastal and border belt of Kathua marked the dual launching at the GMC Auditorium, where educational forums took center stage. Students delivered keynote presentations outlining the historical evolution of Vande Mataram, the rules governing the National Flag Code, and the cultural role of national symbols in fostering unity. Officials emphasized that the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram serves as a crucial reminder of the ideological foundation laid during the independence movement. The day’s proceedings wrapped up with a collective recitation of the national anthem and a pledge to uphold the dignity of the flag in everyday life.
Further north in Ramban, the campaign opened at Government Model Higher Secondary School with interactive community activities. Attendees participated in “Selfie with Tiranga” drives and group vocal performances of patriotic music. To engage younger audiences, organizers screened a documentary film detailing the history, symbolism, and constitutional protocols surrounding the national flag. Meanwhile, in Poonch, events spanned all sub-divisions and tehsils, bringing together regional transport unions, Pahari and Gujjar & Bakerwal hostels, municipal workers, and youth sports organizations for synchronized public rallies and cultural showcases.
Urban sectors in Udhampur reflected a distinct community-focused approach, with the Motor Vehicles Department organizing outreach campaigns directly across major public transit nodes, including the city’s main Bus Stand, Auto Stand, and Mini Bus Stand. Commercial drivers, bus operators, and transit union representatives affixed flags to public conveyance vehicles and publicly reaffirmed their support for national solidarity. Across all participating districts, local administrative bodies have slated further sports meets, flag distribution drives, and civic exhibitions running continuously until August 17.
