Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan Explores Historic Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island in Andaman & Nicobar

SRI VIJAYA PURAM, AUGUST 09, 2026 — Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan conducted an extensive visit to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands today, paying tribute to India’s freedom struggle while reviewing forward-looking infrastructure plans for the historical destination.

During his tour, C. P. Radhakrishnan visited several key historical landmarks that played a vital role in India’s independence movement.Most notably, he walked through the historic structure where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose stayed during his momentous visit to the island territory in December 1943. It was during this period that Netaji famously hoisted the Indian national flag on liberated territory, marking a crucial chapter in the nation’s fight against colonial rule.

The Vice President’s itinerary also included detailed tours of the island’s heritage sites, including the historic Church, the old Troops Barrack, the strategic Gun Point Area, and the Smritika Museum.
