Jharkhand JPSC-JSSC Recruitment Row: Protests to Continue as Students Reject Partial Agreement Ahead of Assembly Siege

Speaking on behalf of the administration following hours of deliberation, Minister Sudivya Kumar stated that the state government agreed to cancel the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Preliminary Test, along with the JPSC backlog examinations for 2023 and 2025. Acknowledging allegations of massive financial transactions behind the irregularities, the administration agreed to hand over financial corruption inquiries to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), while criminal aspects will be investigated by the Crime Investigation Department (CID). Additionally, the government pledged to set up a dedicated fast-track court tasked with filing chargesheets against culprits within 90 days, alongside forming an expert committee to engineer long-term administrative reforms in the recruitment apparatus.

Despite these significant concessions, the dialogue stalled over the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) examination and the role of the conducting agency, TDPL. While the state government cited ongoing judicial mandates as the primary reason for retaining the JSSC CGL results, student leaders firmly demanded the absolute annulment of every examination administered by TDPL, alleging systemic fraud across all testing centers managed by the agency. Because the administration declined to scrap all TDPL-conducted tests, student organizations declared the outcome unsatisfactory and confirmed that their agitation will continue unabated.

With unresolved grievances driving the impasse, student bodies are moving forward with a massive demonstration to encircle the Jharkhand State Legislative Assembly tomorrow. In anticipation of potential unrest, district authorities in Ranchi have deployed extensive security measures around the assembly grounds, including multi-layered police cordons, strategic traffic diversions, and reinforced barbed-wire barricades to prevent protestors from breaching the perimeter.
