Jammu and Kashmir Weather Forecast Dry Mornings Followed by Late Afternoon Thundershowers and Hailstorm Alerts
SRINAGAR, June 24, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update predicting a mix of dry conditions and sudden thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming week. From June 24 to June 29, the region is expected to remain generally dry during the forenoon and early afternoon hours.
However, brief spells of light rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds are highly likely to occur at isolated to scattered places towards the late afternoon and evening. Residents should also remain alert to the possibility of hailstorms in isolated areas during these late afternoon hours.Looking further ahead, a significant change in the weather pattern is anticipated at the turn of the month.
Between June 30 and July 3, fresh spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast to impact many places across the region. This period will likely bring brief but intense heavy showers, severe thunder, and gusty winds.
Due to the intensity of these upcoming downpours, there is a risk of localized flash floods and mudslides at isolated places, prompting officials to advise people to stay away from streams, nallas, and known landslide-prone areas. In light of these conditions, authorities have issued several safety and operational advisories for residents and tourists.
Farmers and orchardists are recommended to schedule their agricultural sprays strictly during the early morning hours to avoid the evening rains. Everyone is strongly advised to stay away from loose structures, electric poles, wires, and old trees during periods of strong winds. Additionally, boating activities and Shikara riding on local lakes should be suspended immediately whenever thunderstorms or lightning occur.
