Shopian security operation: Three detained after police seize grenades and explosives in south Kashmir

SRINAGAR, June 19, 2026 — Security forces have detained three individuals in the Pudsoo area of south Kashmir Shopian district following a targeted search operation that led to the recovery of explosives and incriminating materials.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police intercepted and detained three residents of Begam village. During the subsequent search, security personnel recovered two grenades, four Hizbul Mujahideen posters, 2.5 kilograms of explosive material, and four mobile phones from their possession.

The recovered items have been officially seized by the authorities and are currently undergoing detailed forensic and technical examination.

A senior police officer confirmed that a formal case has been registered regarding the incident, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to uncover further details and connections related to the seized materials.
