NIA Seizes Properties of Pakistan-Backed Terror Accused in Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir

SRINAGAR JUNE 17,2026 :- In a decisive move to dismantle terror networks in Jammu & Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached two properties belonging to Shaheen Ahmad Lone, a central accused in a Pakistan-backed terror conspiracy case. Lone is allegedly linked to prominent proscribed terror outfits Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). According to NIA investigations, he played a critical role in smuggling arms, ammunition, and explosives across the Line of Control (LoC) from Pakistan, which were subsequently distributed to terrorists to execute attacks across the Kashmir Valley. Beyond weapons trafficking, the probe revealed that Lone was actively involved in financing terror operations by receiving and transferring funds to active militants.

The property seizure was executed under Section 33(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), following directives from the NIA Special Court in Jammu, where Lone’s trial (case RC-01/2020/NIA/JMU) is currently underway. The attached assets, located in Kanispora village within the Baramulla district, comprise a residential house situated on 7.5 marlas of land and an additional 6-marla plot featuring a constructed shed. This enforcement action comes as a continuation of Lone’s legal proceedings; he was initially arrested by the agency in September 2020 and subsequently chargesheeted under stringent provisions of the UAPA in March 2021.
