Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta inspects Tawi Riverfront Project in Jammu to review regional development
JAMMU, June 15, 2026: Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta visited the Tawi Riverfront project site to inspect the ongoing development works. The inspection was conducted in the presence of Jammu Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sat Paul Sharma, MLA Vikram Randhawa, and Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Jammu Smart City Limited CEO Devansh Yadav, along with other senior officials.
During the visit, Project Director Sunil Thusoo provided a comprehensive presentation detailing the progress achieved so far and outlined the future expansion plans for the site.Addressing the gathering at the venue, Ajay Tamta praised the stakeholders involved in executing the riverfront development, noting that the project has successfully aided flood control efforts. He described the project as a futuristic initiative with substantial potential for growth, calling it a landmark project and a historic gift to the region that is already turning into a major attraction for the Tawi Aarti and planned aquatic activities.
The Union Minister also shared his broader vision for regional transformation through major road connectivity projects, highlighting that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is actively building modern highways across challenging terrains up to the national borders. Highlighting the tangible benefits of these infrastructure upgrades, he noted that travel time between Jammu and Srinagar has successfully been reduced to just under five hours.
