Kishtwar Motor Vehicles Department cancels driving licenses and suspends vehicle registration over drug trafficking cases

KISHTWAR, June 13, 2026 :- The Motor Vehicles Department in Kishtwar, led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer Tasleem Wani, has disqualified three driving licenses and suspended one vehicle registration belonging to individuals booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The stringent administrative action was taken in response to multiple police investigations into drug trafficking within the region.

The regulatory action follows the registration of multiple criminal cases, including an FIR at the Kishtwar Police Station, another joint case by the Kishtwar Police Station and Drabshalla Police Post, and a third case registered at the Kokernag Police Station. These cases involve various sections of the law related to the possession, sale, and conspiracy of illicit narcotic substances.

As a direct consequence of these criminal involvements, authorities cancelled the driving licenses of Ramiz Raja of Matta Sarkoot, Sameer Hussain of Khori, and Umer Yousuf of Inshan, Warwan. In tandem with the license cancellations, the department also suspended the registration certificate of a commercial vehicle owned by Nobia Nazir of Kishtwar.

The district administration has reiterated its strict zero-tolerance stance against the narcotics trade and warned that law enforcement agencies will continue to employ coordinated efforts, including the revocation of transport privileges, to dismantle drug supply networks and deter offenders in the region.
