NEW DELHI, JUNE 10 — The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), through an official statement shared by Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal , has strongly condemned a targeted attack on the commercial vessel Settebello off the coast of Oman earlier today.

The vessel was carrying an all-Indian crew of 24 individuals, out of which 21 have been successfully rescued so far, while 3 Indian nationals remain missing. The Indian Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the critical situation on the ground and maintains active, proactive coordination with Omani authorities to expedite the ongoing Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.

Expressing grave concern over the deteriorating maritime security environment, the MEA stated that the continuing attacks on commercial shipping in the region are deeply worrisome and stem directly from the ongoing regional conflict.

India has reiterated its urgent call for an immediate de-escalation of hostilities and pressed for the swift conclusion of ongoing negotiations to achieve a sustainable diplomatic solution that restores regional peace and stability.

Emphasizing that the deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure and commercial vessels must stop, India called for the immediate restoration of free, unimpeded navigation and commerce through international waterways in accordance with international law.
