Mehbooba Mufti Urges Health Minister to Expedite AIIMS Awantipora Work

SRINAGAR, June 6, 2026 — Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti reached out to Union Health Minister JP Nadda to request the speeding up of ongoing construction work at AIIMS Awantipora to prevent any further delays.

The Union Minister assured her that the major healthcare infrastructure project would be completed well within the scheduled time frame.While acknowledging that the workforce assigned to the site is working tirelessly around the clock, Mehbooba Mufti emphasized that making AIIMS Awantipora operational as quickly as possible remains imperative.

She highlighted that the swift opening of the premier institute is vital due to the current pressure on the medical sector across Jammu and Kashmir, and it will eventually provide significant relief and high-quality medical services to the local population.
