National Highway 44 renovation accelerated in Udhampur ahead of Shri Amarnath Yatra

UDHAMPUR June 05,2026 — Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh inspected the condition of National Highway 44 from Jakheni Chowk to Chenani to ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic movement.

Accompanied by a technical team from the National Highways Authority of India, the inspection focused on assessing crucial highway maintenance and road conditions ahead of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra and the ensuing monsoon season.

During the joint inspection, the administrative team identified three critical locations at Tharad, Dewal, and Samroli that require immediate intervention.

While noting that repair and restoration work at these vulnerable sites is already underway, the Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agency to expedite the ongoing operations and ensure absolute completion by the end of this month.

Furthermore, the authorities were instructed to complete all necessary road markings and execute a thorough cleaning of the drainage systems along the entire highway stretch by the end of June.
