Jammu Police Crack Down on Drug Consumers: NDPS Case Registered in Miran Sahib

JAMMU, 01 June 2026: In a reinforced effort to eradicate substance abuse and foster a drug-free society, the Jammu Police has registered a formal case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against an individual caught consuming banned substances in the Miran Sahib area.

The action unfolded during routine patrolling when an alert police team from the Miran Sahib Police Station spotted a man exhibiting abnormal behavior and struggling to stand due to extreme intoxication. The individual was identified as Jasbir Singh, son of Gulcharan Singh and a resident of Khour Deonian in the R.S. Pura tehsil of Jammu district.

Following suspicion of narcotics consumption, the police immediately transported Singh to the Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Channi, Jammu, for a comprehensive medical examination and urine drug screening. The subsequent medical report confirmed the presence of Morphine, Heroin, and Benzodiazepine in his system.

Consequently, the police registered FIR No. 78/2026 under Section 27 of the NDPS Act at the Miran Sahib Police Station, and a deeper investigation is currently underway to trace the source of the contraband.

Reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding the youth from the perils of addiction, the Jammu Police has urged the public, particularly young citizens, to distance themselves from narcotics and utilize rehabilitation facilities.

Authorities have also appealed to community members to actively cooperate with law enforcement by reporting local drug abuse and trafficking networks.
