Surinder Choudhary Calls for Future Ready Skills Training in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, May 09, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary emphasized the urgent need to equip students with market-oriented skills to prepare them for evolving job opportunities and sustainable growth.

During a comprehensive tour of government polytechnic colleges and industrial training institutes in Srinagar, he reviewed academic standards and existing infrastructure. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed that aligning skill development programs with modern industry demands is essential for ensuring better livelihood prospects for the youth of the region.The visit included detailed inspections of Government Polytechnic College at Gogji Bagh, the Government Polytechnic College for Women in Bemina, and ITI Bemina.

Choudhary instructed administrative authorities to upgrade laboratories and workshops with advanced machinery and modern gadgets to facilitate seamless practical training. He highlighted the importance of introducing innovative courses that reflect current market trends, ensuring that the training provided to students translates directly into employability and professional success.

To bridge the gap between education and employment, the Deputy Chief Minister advocated for stronger linkages between technical institutions and reputed industries. He called for the establishment of formal partnerships to provide students with essential internships, training, and placement opportunities.

Choudhary noted that providing market access is vital for talented students to showcase their skilled work and products, thereby creating a platform for their future careers.

While interacting with the student body, the Deputy Chief Minister encouraged youth to take advantage of Mission YUVA to become self-reliant entrepreneurs. He explained that the initiative offers loans up to 10 lakh without the need for a mortgage or guarantor, providing a significant boost for those looking to start their own businesses.

He also visited specific units, such as the Food Processing Technology Unit, where he suggested implementing better branding and marketing strategies to enhance the reach of student-made products.

Accompanied by senior officials including Director Skill Development Department Owais Ahmad and Chief Engineer PWD Kashmir Narinder Kumar, the Deputy Chief Minister also assessed various specialized training sections like Carpet Technology, Data Operator Training, and Shawl Making at ITI Bemina.

The visit concluded at the office of the Chief Engineer R&B Central Kashmir in Rajbagh, where Choudhary reviewed ongoing developmental works and institutional functioning to ensure the timely completion of regional projects.
