JAMMU, APRIL 28, 2026:-Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment, and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana conducted a review of the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited operations in Poonch today.
The primary focus of the meeting was to accelerate the implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, a transformative initiative designed to modernize the power distribution network.
Senior officials, including the Managing Director and Chief Engineer of the corporation, provided a detailed roadmap for completing infrastructure projects in the region. The Minister examined various components of the scheme, including the supply chain for materials and the installation of electric poles, conductors, and transformers.
While reviewing the progress, Rana expressed concern over the slow pace of work in certain parts of the district. He instructed officials to identify and resolve bottlenecks immediately to ensure that remote and underserved areas receive a reliable and equitable power supply.
Rana cautioned against the disorganized installation of infrastructure, emphasizing that the deployment of assets like poles and cables must follow strict technical planning. He highlighted that rural and far-flung regions should be prioritized during this phase of development.
To maintain high quality standards, the Minister directed that all projects must include geo-tagged photographic records to enhance transparency and allow for real-time tracking of construction progress. In his final instructions, the Minister called for regular on-site inspections and strict accountability across all levels of the department.
He also noted that any remaining tasks not covered by the current scheme should be integrated into the capital expenditure budget or other relevant programs. This approach aims to ensure that all planned power infrastructure improvements are completed within the set timelines to benefit the residents of Poonch.
