CIK Raids Central Jail Srinagar to Seize Digital Devices in Major Terror Link Investigation

SRINAGAR, APRIL 25: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted an extensive search operation at Central Jail Srinagar on Saturday following a security breach involving suspected terror linkages.

Executed under a warrant from the Special NIA Court in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, the raid targeted multiple barracks based on technical inputs regarding suspicious digital activity within the high-security facility.

During the search, investigators recovered and seized several digital communication devices, which are now being sent for forensic analysis to uncover potential networks and covert communication channels used by inmates.

In light of the recovery, authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the security lapse to determine how the unauthorized devices were smuggled into the prison.

The probe is specifically focusing on identifying facilitators, including the potential involvement of jail insiders or external support networks linked to Over Ground Workers.

Officials stated that this operation is part of a broader, sustained effort to dismantle terror-support structures and enhance internal security within the Union Territory’s correctional facilities.

Moving forward, the CIK intends to tighten surveillance and monitoring to prevent future breaches and ensure the integrity of the prison system.
