CISF Intercepts Passenger with Unreported Foreign Currency Worth Lakhs at Hyderabad Airport
HYDERABAD, April 23, 2026:-Security personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intercepted a passenger at Hyderabad Airport on April 22, 2026, leading to the recovery of substantial undeclared foreign currency.
The interception was initiated by the CISF Intelligence Wing (CIW) team, who identified the Dubai-bound traveler based on suspicious behavioral patterns and profiling.
Upon escorting the individual to the X-ray Baggage Inspection System (X-BIS) screening point, officers noticed irregularities in the scanned images of the passenger’s hand baggage.
A detailed physical examination of the luggage revealed a mix of United States Dollars, UAE Dirhams, and Saudi Riyals, with a total estimated value of approximately ₹9.62 lakh.
Following the discovery, the CISF followed standard security protocols by handing over the passenger and the seized currency to Customs officials for further legal proceedings.
This successful detection highlights the ongoing vigilance and effectiveness of airport security teams in monitoring international departures and preventing the illegal movement of currency.
