IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi Reviews Security for Upcoming Events
SRINAGAR, APRIL 17: Inspector General of Police Kashmir V.K. Birdi chaired a high-level security review meeting at PCR Kashmir today to finalize arrangements for several upcoming events in the valley.
The session was attended by a wide range of senior officials, including IG CRPF Srinagar Sector, IG CRPF KOS, and the Additional Commissioner SB Srinagar, along with deputy inspectors general from the CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, and Traffic departments.
All district superintendents of police from the Kashmir Zone, the Assistant Director SIB Srinagar, and the Colonel GS 15 Corps also participated in the comprehensive evaluation of the current security framework.
During the meeting, V.K. Birdi directed officers to strengthen the deployment of personnel at sensitive locations and intensify surveillance on anti-national elements.
He placed particular emphasis on securing vulnerable installations and prominent tourist destinations to provide a safe environment for visitors.
Additionally, he ordered strict monitoring of inter-district boundaries and instructed district heads to maintain vigilance over social media platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation.
The review also focused on logistical improvements, specifically regarding traffic management in Srinagar city. V.K. Birdi issued directions for a comprehensive traffic plan to ease congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement for the public.
Furthermore, the Inspector General assessed the preparedness for Hajj arrangements, instructing officers to prioritize the facilitation and safe movement of pilgrims at all designated points.
The meeting concluded with a call for intensified cordon and search operations, especially along national highways and in sensitive areas, to ensure the successful conduct of all scheduled events in the region.
