J&K Deputy Chief Minister Announces 15,000 New Youth Recruited last year; Lays Foundation for Key Road Projects
SRINAGAR, APRIL 15, 2026 — Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling unemployment, revealing that nearly 30,000 posts have been referred to recruitment agencies with approximately 15,000 youth successfully appointed over the past year in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to a large public gathering at Kunzar in the Gulmarg constituency, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that these recruitments were conducted strictly on merit, reflecting a transparent and focused effort to empower the region’s youth.
During the event, he also distributed sanction letters, cheques, and keys to commercial vehicles under the Mission Yuva scheme, highlighting the administration’s drive to foster a robust self-employment ecosystem that enables young entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses.
In addition to employment initiatives, the Deputy Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the vital Kunzar–Hardshoora road upgradation, noting that the government is aggressively pursuing infrastructure goals through schemes like NABARD and PMGSY to enhance regional connectivity.
Accompanied by Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah, he urged citizens to register for labor cards to access essential welfare benefits, including educational scholarships and financial aid for the specially-abled.
Earlier in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister also visited Gurdwara Damdama Sahib in Srinagar to pay his respects, further underscoring the government’s engagement with the spiritual and cultural fabric of the Union Territory.
