LG Ladakh Reviews Zoji La Tunnel Progress: Calls for Expedited All-Weather Connectivity

DRASS, APRIL 13: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing Zoji La Tunnel construction today during his visit to Drass to evaluate the progress of this critical infrastructure project.

Aimed at providing essential all-weather connectivity to the Ladakh region, the Lieutenant Governor noted that while work is moving forward satisfactorily despite the region’s severe climatic constraints, he urged project officials to further expedite operations.

He emphasized that the early operationalization of the tunnel is vital for ensuring year-round access, which remains a primary objective for the region’s integration with the rest of the country.

During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor personally interacted with the engineers and laborers stationed at the construction site, praising their dedication and resilience in working under such grueling conditions.

Describing the Zoji La Tunnel as a flagship project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he highlighted that the completed tunnel will serve as a lifeline for Ladakh, significantly boosting local tourism and fostering sustainable economic growth.

Once finished, this engineering marvel will eliminate the seasonal isolation of the territory, ensuring seamless travel and strategic connectivity throughout the year.
