Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena Meets Kargil Leadership to Boost Tourism and Economic Growth

KARGIL, APRIL 11, 2026 — On his maiden visit to Kargil, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, convened a high-level meeting with Chief Executive Councillor Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon, Member of Parliament Mohd. Haneefa Jan, and representatives of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil.

The discussions focused extensively on pivotal regional issues, including the promotion of tourism, the implementation of administrative reforms, and the improvement of ease of doing business to strengthen the local economy.

A primary objective of the dialogue was the creation of sustainable job opportunities for the youth of the district, ensuring long-term socio-economic stability.

During the interaction, Lieutenant Governor Saxena assured the council members of full administrative support and cooperation from the Union Territory government to address the grievances and developmental needs brought forward.

He urged the leadership to work in unison to transform Kargil and the broader Ladakh region into a premier, world-class tourist destination.
