Udhampur Police Strike Against Narcotics: Four Peddlers Arrested with Heroin in Dual Operations

UDHAMPUR, APRIL 11, 2026— As part of an ongoing mission to dismantle drug trafficking networks, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended four drug peddlers and recovered quantities of heroin in two separate enforcement actions.

In the first operation, a police team from Police Station Chenani intercepted an Ape Xtra auto (registration No. JK01AW-2571) at the Motor Shed checkpoint on the National Highway. The vehicle, traveling from Udhampur toward Kashmir, was occupied by Shabir Ahmed Chappa of Srinagar, Aaqib Ahmed Dar of Parimpora, and Aamir Ahmed Ganie of HMT Shalteng. A search of the individuals led to the recovery of 10.16 grams of heroin, resulting in their immediate arrest and the registration of FIR No. 62/2026 under the NDPS Act.

In a simultaneous crackdown, the Udhampur Police Station registered a second case, FIR No. 134/2026, targeting an individual identified as Irfan Ahmed, a resident of Panchal, Ramban.

During a targeted search of the suspect, officers recovered 2.59 grams of heroin. Like the previous suspects, he was taken into custody on the spot after failing to provide a legitimate explanation for the possession of the contraband.

These dual arrests highlight the district police’s intensified vigilance along transit routes and their unwavering commitment to purging the region of illicit substances. Further investigations into both cases are currently underway to trace the origins of the seized narcotics.
