Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra Reviews Ladakh CAMPA Progress; Directs Focus on Eco-Tourism and Community Conservation

LEH, January 15, 2026: Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, chaired the 5th meeting of the UT Ladakh Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) today to evaluate the status of the Annual Plan of Operations (APO) and financial utilization.

During the session, the Forest Department presented a comprehensive report on fund disbursement and spillover projects, prompting a detailed review of the implementation challenges and outcomes from the previous financial year.

The meeting extensively discussed the proposed APO for 2026–27 for the Leh and Kargil Forest and Wildlife Divisions, focusing on strategic initiatives for afforestation, wildlife protection, and ecological restoration.

Chief Secretary Kundra emphasized the necessity of timely execution and transparent fund management, while urging officials to adopt a more imaginative approach by integrating high-impact projects such as eco-tourism and digital information hubs for nature enthusiasts.

Highlighting the importance of sustainable development, he directed the department to rework their proposals within a week to incorporate greater community involvement in conservation efforts, ensuring tangible environmental benefits for the Union Territory.
