RAJOURI, JANUARY 11, 2026 — Security forces successfully thwarted a major cross-border provocation late this evening after detecting a suspicious Pakistani drone along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district.
At approximately 6:35 PM, alert Indian Army personnel spotted the UAV hovering over the Gania-Kalsian village area in the Nowshera sector. Troops immediately engaged the target, using Medium and Light Machine Guns (LMGs) to open heavy fire, forcing the drone to retreat back into Pakistani territory.
According to senior officials, the incident was part of a coordinated surge in aerial activity, with at least five separate drone sightings reported this evening across the International Border (IB) and LoC, including the Ramgarh sector in Samba and the Mankote sector in Poonch.
In response to these repeated violations, security agencies have issued a “High Alert” across the entire border belt.A massive search operation involving the Army, J&K Police, and the BSF is currently underway in the rugged terrain to ensure no illicit payloads, such as weapons or narcotics, were dropped.
This heightened vigilance follows a recovery just two days ago in Samba, where a drone-dropped cache including pistols, magazines, and a hand grenade was seized.
Security forces are currently utilizing advanced radar and night-vision surveillance to maintain a strict vigil against further incursions.
