KULGAM, Dec 31: District Police Kulgam has concluded the year 2025 with a series of landmark achievements, successfully implementing a multi-pronged, citizen-centric strategy to dismantle criminal networks.
Under a strict zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, authorities registered 87 FIRs under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 111 individuals and the recovery of contraband worth several crores.
A major highlight of the year was the successful prosecution of high-profile offenders, resulting in one life sentence and one ten-year term of rigorous imprisonment. To further cripple the narco-economy, police attached seven residential houses valued at approximately ₹4.32 crore, stripping traffickers of their illegal proceeds.
On the digital front, Kulgam Police achieved significant success in combatting financial fraud. The Cyber Police Station addressed 762 complaints filed through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, utilizing swift coordination with financial institutions to recover and return over ₹79.60 lakh to fraud victims.
Additionally, technical teams blocked 97 misused mobile devices and successfully traced 41 lost phones, returning them to their owners. The crackdown also extended to environmental protection and national security, with 167 FIRs filed against illegal mining operations and the attachment of assets under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) to disrupt logistical support for anti-national elements.
Beyond enforcement, the district police prioritized youth engagement through the Civic Action Programme, investing over ₹10.94 lakh in sports and community activities to foster a drug-free culture.
SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, commended the efforts of the force and urged residents to remain vigilant. He emphasized that the successes of 2025—ranging from the seizure of 235 mining vehicles to the apprehension of long-term absconders—were fueled by community trust.
He reaffirmed that Kulgam Police will continue to innovate and maintain professional excellence to ensure the safety and security of all inhabitants in the coming year.
