Yuva Vani 2.0: District-Level Agriculture Workshop in Ramnagar Empowers Udhampur Youth and Farmers
UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 20: To drive innovation in the primary sector, the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare organized a district-level sensitization workshop, Yuva Vani 2.0, at Town Hall, Ramnagar today.
Inaugurated by MLA Ramnagar Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, the program falls under the Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP) for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
Addressing a gathering of approximately 300 participants—including youth club members, self-help groups (SHGs), and agri-preneurs—Dr. Bhardwaj emphasized the critical role of the younger generation in nation-building and environmental stewardship. He urged them to serve as “ambassadors of change” to modernize the rural economy and adopt sustainable practices.
During the technical sessions, Chief Agriculture Officer Harbans Singh revealed that Ramnagar, Chenani, Latti, and Moungri have been specifically selected for JKCIP implementation. He advocated for a strategic shift from traditional subsistence farming to market-oriented diversification into high-value crops to ensure better remunerative prices for growers. Experts, including Assistant Soil Chemist Sunil Gupta, further educated attendees on the scientific necessity of soil analysis for precise nutrient management.
The event, which also featured interactive stalls from various allied departments showcasing the latest agricultural technologies, was attended by DDC Member Mool Raj and several senior departmental officers, concluding with a commitment to transforming Udhampur into a hub for innovative agri-business.
