World Water Day: Fire and Fury Corps Lead Conservation Drive at Pangong Tso

LEH, March 23, 2026 — Commemorating International World Water Day with a focus on Ladakh’s pristine yet fragile ecosystem, the Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army successfully executed a comprehensive environmental initiative at Maan Village, situated along the iconic Pangong Tso.

The event, which saw enthusiastic participation from the local border community, was designed to blend education with direct action. Activities included the screening of an impactful documentary on water conservation techniques tailored for high-altitude regions, followed by a large-scale cleanliness drive along the shores of the lake to remove waste and preserve the water quality of the high-altitude saline wetland.

To further solidify environmental awareness among the youth and residents, the organizers conducted an engaging interactive quiz focused on local ecology and sustainable water management.

This initiative highlights the Indian Army’s unwavering dedication to empowering border communities while taking a proactive role in protecting the sensitive environment of Ladakh.

By fostering a sense of shared responsibility, the Fire and Fury Corps continues to strengthen the bond between the armed forces and the people of the frontier, ensuring that natural wonders like Pangong Tso remain protected for future generations.
