KATHUA January 28, 2026 :- District Police Kathua, operating under the supervision of SSP Mohita Sharma, has successfully resolved a complex blind murder case following a meticulous and scientific investigation.
The case originated on October 9, 2025, when the body of Bittu Ram, a resident of Dhar Dugnoo, was discovered under mysterious circumstances in a local nallah.
Initially treated as an inquest proceeding under the BNSS, the investigation shifted focus after a police team led by SHO Zaheer Mushtaq, supervised by SP Ops Upper Kathua Aamir Iqbal and SDPO Neeraj Padyar, uncovered suspicious physical evidence.
A forensic examination revealed multiple injuries and a ligature mark around the victim’s neck, suggesting strangulation rather than an accidental death. As the investigation progressed, the police utilized a combination of ground-level human intelligence and technical analysis to scrutinize several suspects.
The findings led to the registration of a formal murder case under Section 103 BNS at Police Station Billawar.
The breakthrough came with the arrest of the deceased’s wife, Simro Devi. During sustained interrogation, she confessed to the crime, citing strained relations and frequent domestic disputes stemming from an illicit relationship.
She admitted to strangulating her husband with a rope, which ultimately led to his death. Police have since recovered relevant evidence connected to the offense and reaffirmed their commitment to professional policing and the pursuit of justice for all citizens.
