War Against Drugs: Shopian Police Arrest Peddler with 5kg of Cannabis in Heerpora

Shopian January 16, 2026 — In a major breakthrough under its ongoing “War Against Drugs,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian successfully apprehended a drug peddler and seized a significant quantity of narcotics today.

During a routine checkpoint operation (Naka checking) at Dachnoo Heerpora, a vigilant police team from the Heerpora Police Station intercepted a man acting suspiciously.

A thorough search of the individual led to the recovery of approximately 5 kilograms of cannabis (Charas-like substance), which was immediately confiscated by the authorities.The arrested individual has been identified as Aslam Kalas, a resident of Devpora.

Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 06/2026 at Police Station Heerpora, invoking relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
