VPN Services Suspended in Shopian District to Maintain Public Order and Security

SHOPIAN, December 29, 2025: In a proactive move to ensure regional stability and public safety, the District Administration of Shopian has ordered the immediate suspension of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services across the district.

The directive, issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Shopian, comes into effect immediately and will remain in force until further notice. Authorities cited prevailing security considerations and the potential for VPNs to be misused in ways that could bypass lawful monitoring or jeopardize the peace of the region as the primary reasons for this restrictive measure.

The Shopian Police have issued a formal notice to the general public, requesting strict adherence to the new regulations and full cooperation with law enforcement agencies. Officials emphasized that the suspension is in the larger interest of maintaining public order and preventing activities that could pose risks to the community.

The administration has warned that any non-compliance or attempt to violate the suspension order will result in strict legal action under the relevant provisions of the law. Residents are encouraged to support the district’s efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment during this period.
