Veterans Day Celebrations in Poonch: Dhruva Motorcycle Rally Honors Ex-Servicemen and Fallen Heroes
POONCH January 12, 2026 — Veterans Day celebrations in Poonch were marked by profound patriotism and solemnity as the Indian Army, veterans, and civil dignitaries gathered to honor the selfless service of the nation’s ex-servicemen.
A central highlight of the event was the Dhruva Motorcycle Rally, which reached its eighth day on January 12, 2026. Carrying the “Eternal Mashal”—a torch symbolizing the everlasting glory of fallen heroes—the rally arrived in Poonch from Mendhar to reaffirm the deep-rooted bond between the Armed Forces and the local community.
The day commenced with a poignant wreath-laying ceremony at the Poonch War Memorial, where attendees paid homage to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
Following the tributes, the Commander of the Poonch Brigade ceremoniously flagged off the motorcycle rally from the War Memorial in the presence of local leaders and veterans.
The rally covered approximately 90 kilometers, traveling through the Poonch-Rajouri sector to spread a message of national unity and respect for the military.
As the riders traversed the rugged terrain, they were greeted with warm support and admiration from the local populace. The eighth leg of the journey concluded successfully at Thanamandi in Rajouri, serving as a powerful symbol of remembrance and national integration.
The event underscored the military’s collective commitment to preserving the legacy of India’s soldiers and strengthening the enduring connection between the citizens and the protectors of the nation.
