Union Home Minister Amit Shah Begins Pivotal Three-Day Visit to Jammu & Kashmir

JAMMU, February 5, 2026 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Jammu this evening for a high-stakes, three-day visit aimed at tightening the security grid and accelerating developmental initiatives across the Union Territory.

Arriving at approximately 5:00 PM, the Home Minister’s itinerary begins with a high-level security review involving top officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), national intelligence agencies, and the Jammu and Kashmir civil and police administration.

Following this, he will proceed to Lok Bhawan to engage with leaders from various political parties, a move that the ruling National Conference (NC) suggests has “rekindled hopes” for the restoration of statehood.

The second day of the visit will see the Home Minister traveling to the International Border at Hiranagar in Kathua district. There, he will receive direct briefings from Border Security Force (BSF) officials regarding the prevailing ground situation and infiltration challenges.

This visit is particularly significant given the MHA’s intensified focus on neutralizing foreign terrorists reportedly hiding in the rugged terrains of the Jammu division, including Doda, Kishtwar, and Rajouri.

On February 7, the Home Minister will transition to Srinagar to officially launch several major development projects, signaling the central government’s commitment to the region’s total integration and economic progress.

This visit marks the second major security audit led by Amit Shah in less than a month, following an exhaustive review in New Delhi on January 8.

The mission-mode approach directed by the Home Minister targets “zero tolerance” for border infiltration and the complete elimination of terror elements in the hinterland.
