Unauthorized Pony Operator booked by Reasi Police
Reasi, November 5: District Police Reasi continues to ensure strict enforcement of rules and regulations on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) track to maintain safety, security and proper conduct of services for pilgrims.
During routine patrolling on the SMVD track within the jurisdiction of Police Post Banganga, a police team intercepted an individual near Bathing Ghat-01, Ban Ganga, who was found operating as a Pony Operator. Upon inquiry, the individual disclosed his identity as Ashwani Sharma S/O Ganesh Chand, Caste Brahmin, R/O Datora, Tehsil & District Reasi.He was asked to produce a valid registered service card mandatory for operating as a Pony Operator on the SMVD track.
However, he failed to produce any such authorization and admitted that he was working without permission, assuming he would go unchecked.By operating a pony service without lawful authorization, the accused has violated the notification issued by SDM Katra regarding regulated service operations on the yatra track.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 301/2025 U/S 223(a) BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra. Further investigation is underway.The whole operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO Katra Insp Ranjit rao, under the close Supervision of SDPO Katra Dr Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran .
