SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 18: Urban Forestry (UF) Division, Srinagar today organised a Plantation-cum-Drawing Competition for students from various schools at Bal Van, Zeethyar Srinagar. The event witnessed participation of around 100 students, who actively took part in plantation activities and expressed their creativity through nature-themed drawings.
On the occasion, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Urban Forestry Srinagar, Dr. Sheikh Mehraj delivered an insightful lecture on the importance of environment and forests. He highlighted the vital role forests play in maintaining ecological balance, mitigating climate change, and enhancing the overall quality of life. The students were encouraged to become ambassadors of environmental conservation by adopting eco-friendly habits and spreading awareness in their communities.
Speaking at the event, Chairman National Society for Protection of Water Resources, Forests and Wetlands, appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to develop a deeper connection with nature and contribute actively to conservation efforts.The programme concluded with a brief interactive session where students shared their thoughts on environmental challenges and possible solutions.
