Udhampur West MLA Inaugurates Mega Kisan Mela at Lander-Panchari to Boost Rural Economy

UDHAMPUR 17 December :- To empower the local farming community and accelerate rural economic growth, a high-impact one-day Kisan Mela was successfully hosted today at Panchayat Lander in the Panchari block. Inaugurated by Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Udhampur West, Pawan Kumar Gupta, the event focused on the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and drew over 300 farmers from across the region.

The MLA urged attendees to transition from traditional subsistence farming to farm-based enterprises, highlighting how government-backed interventions are designed to double farmer incomes. Various departments showcased modern agricultural techniques through interactive stalls, providing a one-stop information hub for the latest subsidies and technological advancements available to the rural populace.

During the technical sessions, Chief Agriculture Officer Harbans Singh and his team emphasized the shift toward Organic and Zero Budget Natural Farming, advocating for sustainable practices that protect soil health and reduce input costs. Experts provided specialized guidance on the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for crop insurance, as well as lucrative opportunities in apiculture and mushroom cultivation.

Furthermore, soil chemists educated farmers on the scientific application of fertilizers based on soil health cards to optimize yields. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing the agricultural landscape of Udhampur by making innovative farming solutions accessible to the grassroots level.
