Udhampur road restoration progresses rapidly, National Highway to reopen in one or two Days: Dr Jitendra Singh
Udhampur 06 September :- Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh provided a significant update on the post-disaster restoration efforts in Udhampur district, stating that work is progressing at a rapid pace despite challenging conditions.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, the Minister revealed that over 50% of the 400 damaged roads in the district have already been restored, with many more expected to reopen shortly.
He highlighted the particularly intensive efforts on the National Highway, which is being repaired on a “war footing.” While continuous rain and adverse weather have posed challenges, Dr Singh expressed optimism that the crucial highway could be operational within “one or two days,” contingent on more favourable conditions to allow for speedy work.
The Minister also confirmed that priority is being given to restoring road connectivity to peripheral areas such as Ghordi, Latti, Dudu, and Basantgarh at the earliest. Addressing water supply issues, he noted that while full restoration is yet to be achieved in certain areas of Ramnagar, Moungri, Latti, and Basantgarh, alternative arrangements are actively being made through the deployment of water tankers to ensure residents have access to essential supplies.
