UDHAMPUR, March 12, 2026: In a decisive move to modernize the regional energy grid, Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa today officially inaugurated the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS-ED) in Udhampur.
Addressing media representatives during the launch, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that a specialized centralized operations team has been working for over a year on a comprehensive strategy designed to drastically reduce technical and commercial losses within the power sector.
This multi-faceted initiative aims to overhaul the district’s electricity distribution network, ensuring a more reliable and consistent power supply for all residents and local businesses.
The infrastructure upgrade involves the large-scale installation of additional high-capacity transformers and the replacement of aging, damaged cabling across the district.
A key component of the modernization effort includes the removal of outdated wooden and cement poles, which will be substituted with durable, modern utility structures.
By focusing on these critical technical enhancements, the district administration aims to streamline power transmission and eliminate frequent disruptions.
Deputy Commissioner Sherpa reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to a strict project timeline, ensuring that all modernization works under the RDSS are completed within the stipulated period to provide immediate relief and improved service to the public.
