Udhampur Police Seize ₹45 Lakh Vehicle of Habitual Bovine Smuggler in Major Crackdown

UDHAMPUR, March 6, 2026 — In a continuous effort to dismantle illegal smuggling networks, the Udhampur Police has officially attached a high-value vehicle belonging to a notorious bovine smuggler, Mohd. Ashraf, a resident of Talwara, Reasi.

Acting under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and following orders from the Court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Udhampur, authorities seized a Thermo-Freeze Canter (Registration No. UP26T-2340) valued at approximately ₹45 lakhs. The vehicle was linked to FIR No. 174/2025 at Police Station Rehambal, where an intensive financial and criminal investigation revealed its consistent use in unlawful smuggling activities.

This latest enforcement action, conducted in the presence of EMIC Tikri, marks the third major property attachment by Udhampur Police this year, bringing the total value of seized assets in such cases to ₹95 lakhs and underscoring a zero-tolerance policy toward organized bovine crime in the region.
