Udhampur Police Seize ₹2.94 Cr Narcotics and Attach ₹3.10 Cr Assets in Major Drug Crackdown

UDHAMPUR, March 01, 2026 — In a major offensive against the drug trade, the Udhampur Police have significantly intensified their district-wide operations under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan initiative during the first two months of 2026.

This sustained campaign has led to the registration of 34 FIRs and the arrest of 50 individuals, including 49 under the NDPS Act and one under PITNDPS.

Beyond the arrests, the department has focused on neutralizing the logistics of smuggling by seizing 19 vehicles and canceling 10 Registration Certificates and 8 Driving Licenses, sending a clear deterrent message to those involved in the illicit trade.

The scale of the narcotics recovery is substantial, with the black market value of seized contraband estimated at ₹2.94 crore. This haul includes approximately 419 grams of high-grade heroin, valued at ₹2.93 crore, and nearly 17 kg of poppy straw.

Parallel to the physical seizures, the police have executed a massive financial crackdown by targeting the wealth generated through crime. Under the stringent provisions of the NDPS Act, authorities have attached assets worth ₹3.10 crore linked to seven specific cases.

These attachments include four vehicles, electronic gadgets, seven frozen bank accounts, and four residential properties including land.Reinforcing the success of their investigative process, Udhampur Police also secured a significant conviction in an NDPS case during this period.

This legal victory highlights the department’s commitment to professional investigation and rigorous follow-up in the judicial system.
