UDHAMPUR, December 26, 2025: Demonstrating an aggressive and efficient approach to the war on drugs, the Udhampur Police has secured a swift conviction in a recent narcotics smuggling case. The legal proceedings, stemming from FIR No. 121/2025 registered at Police Station Chenani, concluded with the Hon’ble Sessions Court Udhampur finding two individuals guilty under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The convicts, identified as Tarandeep Singh of Makhanpur and Parvinder Singh of Chatha, Jammu, were apprehended on November 18, 2025, during a targeted operation at the Motorshed Naka point, where police recovered a significant quantity of poppy straw from their possession.The success of the case is attributed to a high-speed and professional investigation led by PSI Azhar Shakeel, who ensured that all technical and legal formalities were completed within record time.
This diligent evidence gathering allowed the charge-sheet to be filed promptly, leading to a trial that concluded in just over a month. After evaluating the evidence, the court convicted the duo and imposed a fine of ₹30,000, sending a strong message to those involved in the illicit trade.
