UDHAMPUR January 28, 2026:- In a major crackdown on organized crime and illegal animal transportation, the Udhampur Police have booked and detained a habitual bovine smuggler under the Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA).
The accused, identified as Aslam Khan, a resident of Narsoo, Udhampur, was detained following a formal order issued by the District Magistrate. This stringent action highlights the commitment of the local administration to dismantle smuggling networks that threaten the socio-economic fabric and public peace of the region.
Aslam Khan has a documented history of criminal involvement, with several FIRs registered against him for bovine smuggling across the district. Despite multiple previous arrests and legal proceedings, the accused reportedly persisted in his illegal activities, showing a total disregard for the law.
Recognizing his habitual behavior as a threat to public order, authorities processed his detention under the PSA to ensure a more effective deterrent. Following the execution of the warrant, he has been shifted and lodged in the District Jail Bhaderwah.
Udhampur Police reiterated that such strict measures will continue against offenders who repeatedly disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the district.
