Udhampur Police Intercept Inter-District Drug Peddler; Heroin Seized at Roun Domail

UDHAMPUR, March 13, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended an inter-district drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of heroin during a specialized patrol operation at Roun Domail.

A dedicated police team from the Roun Domail Police Post, led by the In-Charge Police Post (ICPP), was conducting routine surveillance near Baley Bridge when they spotted a suspicious individual approaching from the Naka side.

Upon noticing the police vehicle, the suspect attempted to evade authorities by reversing his direction and moving hurriedly toward the local market, prompting an immediate pursuit and interception by the vigilant officers.

The apprehended individual has been identified as Dilavar Khan, son of Nazir Ahmed Khan and a resident of Doligam Hinjhal in the Banihal area of Ramban district. During a systematic personal search conducted on the spot, the police recovered 12.32 grams of heroin from his possession.

Following the recovery, the accused was taken into custody, and a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 71/2026, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Udhampur Police Station.

A deeper investigation is currently underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of this inter-district drug network and identify potential accomplices.
