Udhampur Police Intensify Anti-Drug Crackdown: Three Narcotic Peddlers Arrested and Heroin Seized in Major Operations
UDHAMPUR, February 21, 2026: In a series of successful operations aimed at curbing the drug menace, the Udhampur Police have arrested three hardcore drug peddlers and recovered significant quantities of heroin in separate incidents across the district.
During a strategic patrol at Pathyal Morh in Sudhmahadev, a police team from Police Post Sudhmahadev apprehended Imran Khan, a resident of Kossar, Chenani, who was found in possession of 6.20 grams of a heroin-like substance.
Simultaneously, a separate team at Roun Domail intercepted an electric auto traveling from Manwal toward Udhampur; the driver, Mohit Sharma of Sial Jattan, was arrested after 5.45 grams of heroin (locally known as chitta) was discovered in his possession. These arrests led to the registration of FIRs at Police Stations Chenani and Udhampur under the NDPS Act, with investigations currently underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of the contraband.
In a third successful intervention near the Kali Mata Mandir in Majalta, police personnel intercepted Alam Din, a resident of Samba, during routine patrolling along Dhar Road. A personal search of the suspect led to the recovery of 5.14 grams of heroin, resulting in the registration of another FIR at Police Station Majalta.
The Udhampur Police department has reiterated its commitment to a “Zero Tolerance” policy against drug trafficking, urging the public to cooperate in making the district drug-free.
These coordinated efforts highlight the heightened vigilance of the local police units in dismantling the supply chain of synthetic drugs in the region.
