UDHAMPUR, Feb 11, 2026 — In a significant move to foster national integration and broaden the horizons of local youth, the District Police Udhampur officially flagged off the Bharat Darshan Tour today under the Civic Action Programme of the Jammu & Kashmir Police.
The ceremony, held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Udhampur, was led by DIG U-R Range, Sarah Rizvi (IPS), alongside SSP Udhampur, Amod Nagpure (IPS). A group of 87 participants, selected from the most remote areas of the district, embarked on this five-day journey aimed at showcasing the cultural richness and diverse heritage of India.
The comprehensive itinerary offers these young citizens the chance to experience various modes of travel, including their first trips by train and air. Over the course of five days, the group will visit iconic landmarks in Delhi and Bengaluru, including Rajghat, the Lotus Temple, India Gate, and the National War Memorial. In Bengaluru, the youth will explore the Bangalore Palace, local museums, and historic temples.
During the flag-off, DIG Sarah Rizvi encouraged the participants to act as “ambassadors of the country,” urging them to absorb the nation’s greatness and return with life-long memories that inspire a sense of unity and pride.
Beyond the educational and recreational aspects, the initiative is seen as a vital community outreach effort. Parents and local residents have lauded the Udhampur Police for organizing such programs, noting their importance in steering the younger generation away from social evils like drug abuse by providing productive avenues for growth.
The enthusiastic participants expressed their gratitude, stating that this exposure to India’s historic and modern landscape would empower them to better “craft their destiny” and contribute positively to society.
