Udhampur Police Dismantle Multi-District Drug Network: Three Heroin Peddlers Arrested in Triple Strike
UDHAMPUR, April 1, 2026 — In a major coordinated offensive against the narcotics trade, Udhampur Police successfully apprehended three drug peddlers, including an inter-district smuggler, in three separate operations across the district.
The intensified patrolling and specialized checkpoints resulted in the recovery of a significant quantity of high-grade heroin, marking a continued win for the region’s ongoing anti-drug campaign.
The first major breakthrough occurred on the National Highway near Subash Stadium, where a patrolling team from Police Station Udhampur intercepted Haris Hussain, a resident of Kishtwar, who was found in possession of 6.72 grams of heroin.
Hussain, identified as an inter-district peddler, was arrested on the spot after failing to justify the possession of the contraband, leading to the registration of FIR No. 114/2026.
Simultaneously, the Majalta Police executed two successful strikes under their jurisdiction to further choke the local supply chain.
During a patrol near Manwal Chowk, officers intercepted Sunil Kumar, a resident of Ramnagar, and recovered 26 grams of heroin from his possession, resulting in FIR No. 42/2026.
In a third operation at the Battal Naka, a motorcyclist identified as Abhikant Sharma from Rathian was stopped for a routine check, which led to the discovery of 32 grams of heroin. He was immediately taken into custody under FIR No. 43/2026.
District Police Udhampur has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking, noting that these arrests are part of a broader strategy to dismantle the larger networks behind these individual peddlers as investigations into their forward and backward linkages continue.
